SMURFIT KAPPA
Children, Cardboard, Creativity!
The ingredients for an amazing inspiring programme
Smurfit Kappa Ireland, a leading producer of paper-based packaging and the IYF is teaming up again this year for ‘The Cardboard Challenge’ a children’s creative project, Galway(11th October), Dublin (25th October), Cork (1st November), Belfast (8th November), Waterford (15th November)
The project is inspired by Caine’s Arcade, an imaginative cardboard arcade created by nine-year-old Caine Monroy from Los Angeles whose story fascinated the world by becoming a global YouTube phenomenon
Caine’s DIY Cardboard Arcade is the catalyst for a Global Cardboard Challenge,
The Smurfit Kappa Ireland/ IYF projects last year involved 125 young people aged 8-10 and a team of artists and creative facilitators which was themed around sustainable houses of the future.
Smurfit Kappa Ireland provided the IYF with financial assistance to support the project; corrugated materials as well as advice and assistance in working with the material at the workshop; and technology support in providing an online presence for the project. A group of Smurfit Kappa Ireland employees also volunteered their time to make this programme happen!
This programme is growing yearly, 2014 promises to be as much fun as last year. Watch here!
